TV in a Taxi
March 25, 2008So today was the start of a new week. I finally got to start working on the marketing stuff at work since last week we were so busy with UTR. I spent most of the day working with Christen. She is our conference director and has been handling a lot of the marketing thus far. She’s excited to have the help so she can focus on her job more, which is making our conferences the best.
We had lunch with Stowe Boyd,a really cool blogger. He had a bunch of new ideas and thoughts on things we could do at Dealmaker Media to improve things. I spent most of the afternoon working on our blog and made my first blog post (click here).
Over the next few weeks we will be making a lot of changes to the Dealmaker Media website. Keep checking here for my postings on the new stuff I come up with.
After work I went to get some sushi and buy a TV. I walked about a mile to Circuit City then got a taxi back. I’ve never had to take a cab home because I purchased something too big to carry. The TV is awesome and I’m looking foward to getting HDTV and watch sports in high def.
So I have been in San Francisco for 10 days and I’ve made some observations:
-
The mass transit system here is awesome. Between BART, MUNI, and even the buss you can get anywhere you want to go and for like $1.50 a trip.
-
It is amazing how quick you get used to walking. I’ve always had a car since I was 16 and now I walk everywhere. I walk 1.5 miles each way to work and it isn’t a big deal. At home, I’d never even walk down to Desert Ridge to do anything and here you do it 3-4 times a day.
-
Crosswalks are dangerous. I like to wait until the little white man shows on the signal and then I decide to walk. I don’t want to to die because I went too soon like some people here do.
-
Homeless people are everywhere. Living in Scottsdale/Phoenix you never really saw them, but you can’t avoid them here. It is hard to walk by everyone of them and not give them some money, but if you did that you’d go broke. I try to give $1 to a person each day so I feel like I do my part.
-
People are generally friendly. People at the bus stops, apartment elevators, and just walking are very talkative and friendly. It is a nice change.
That’s it for today, more tomorrow.
Love and miss you Dani and Ace!
